Job Title: Gaffer - Hot Glass Production

Location: Kingston, Ontario

Job Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Wage: $24 - $30 per hour (based on experience and skill level)

About Us:

We are a family-owned glass studio based in Kingston, Ontario, known for our dedication to quality craftsmanship and unique designs. We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate Gaffer to join our team and contribute to our hot glass production process.

Position Overview:

As a Gaffer in our studio, you will play a key role in the creation of our glass products. This is a hands-on position that requires expertise in hot glass techniques and the ability to work in a fast-paced, creative environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in production glassblowing, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

 Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the hot glass production process, including shaping and forming glass pieces.

- Maintain a high standard of quality and craftsmanship in all work.

- Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times.

- Assist with equipment maintenance and studio organization.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a Gaffer or in a similar glassblowing role.

- Strong knowledge of hot glass techniques and tools.

- Ability to work in a high-temperature environment.

- Attention to detail and precision in craftsmanship.

- Strong communication and teamwork skills.

- Flexibility to adapt to different projects and timelines.

Job Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week)

 Wage: $18 per hour

We are a family-owned glassblowing studio located in Kingston, Ontario, dedicated to creating high-quality glass art. Our team is passionate about the craft, and we are looking for a reliable and hardworking Studio Assistant to join us in supporting the daily operations of our studio.

 Position Overview:

As a Studio Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our glassblowing studio. This hands-on position involves assisting the glassblower in the hot shop, handling glass pieces, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and helping with customer interactions. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, physically fit, and eager to learn the art of glassmaking.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist the glassblower in the hot shop during production.

- Cut, grind, and sandblast glass as needed.

- Clean and maintain the studio and surrounding areas.

- Organize and manage inventory of supplies and glass materials.

- Pack and ship orders with care and precision.

- Interact with customers, providing information and assistance as needed.

Qualifications:

- No glassblowing experience necessary

- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with delicate materials.

- Physical ability to handle the heat and demands of a hot shop environment.

- Excellent organizational skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Good communication skills for dealing with customers and team members.
