Vera Donefer has been an artist for over 50 years and has mastered many different techniques. Beginning as a fashion illustrator in New York City, she moved away from commercial art after arriving in Montreal in 1957. Vera has been a Kingston resident since 1996. With the development of improved hard and fluid acrylics, Donefer has been exploring the emotion of colour through abstraction. Her new creations burst with life, and her sensitive use of colour is what drives them. Vera has taught many courses and exhibited widely including one-person shows in Montreal. In July 2005, she had a one-person show at the New Gallery of the Kingston Arts Council. In September 2005, she was the featured artist of the month on the Ottawa Mixed Media Artists website.
