"I select logs from various sites in Ontario that have the type and caricature of wood that has the most unique grain and produce bowls and other pieces that truly share what I see in the wood; nature’s art forms."
For over 20 years Gary Matthews has been turning wooden salad bowls and burls on a handmade lathe in his workshop near the village of Tamworth, Ontario. Gary’s bowls are both functional and decorative. He creates bowls, burls and platters in a variety of shapes and designs. His work is currently sold in select galleries throughout Ontario, including the Red Canoe Gallery in Port Carling, Petroff Gallery in Toronto, River Guild in Perth, and Kingston Glass Studio & Gallery.
